I feel the cancellation of the kick pitch was a mistake. The kids are now playing football next to the swing park, with the balls going into the pond at least twice a week so young children are leaning over the waters edge trying to retrieve them. It’s a recipe for disaster.
The base for the kick pitch has already been laid and the shape is there, all that is needed is the surface smoothed over. Even if there are no goal posts put up. It will be a much safer environment for the children to play in.
The original access to the pitch has been blocked, but it could be replaced by a “Country Style” type gate that kids and dog walkers could use but would be awkward enough to deter any undesirables.
I agree with this comment. The swing park area is unsuitable for informal sports, and the kick pitch would provide a safer environment. I notice a path is being layed and the pitch flattened, does anyone know what works are being undertaken?
According to the previous postings it was my understanding that the kick pitch was not going ahead. The area has been levelled a number of times but usually ends up waterlogged. With a large recreation area under consideration for the policy bing I do not see the need another games area so near to residential properties. This area is out of sight both from the road and nearby houses and would just provide an area for youths to congregate at night.
